The Quad Peak Animation System – or QPAS - is a four core stereo multimode filter. It is based four filter cores with resonant peaks with four response types which can all be used simultaneously. The Low Pass lets by frequencies below the cutoff, the bandpass lets by frequencies which are near the cut off setting and the Hi-Pass lets the frequencies above the cut off by. There is also a special setting on QPAS called the Smile Pass, this responds to both the cutoff and radiate settings resulting in a clear and constant amplitude. The normalised inputs on the QPAS can be patched mono to stereo, stereo to mono, mono to mono and stereo to stereo operations offering a wide variance of input and output types. These different filters invite experimentation allowing you to use the four different settings to add new scope to your patches
All four cores share the centre cut off frequency control knob and CV input giving you a consistent filter operation whilst using the simultaneous filter modes. The Q knob adds new flavour to filter process. It is also linked directly to the filter cores. Adjusting both the cut off the knob and the Q has a huge impact on the signal as it passes through QPAS. Adding a subtle modulation effect to your overall sound. Modulating these macro parameters can add animation on top of the already animated signal, meaning you can access a wealth of sound design possibilities. Using the Radiate knobs on the left and right spreads two of the four peaks across the relevant frequency. Radiate allows for two different modulations and filter characters giving you more flavour and best of all, it can be CV’d.
The !!¡¡ controls provide an individual modulation destination that responds to any clock, gate or audio rate signal and have a huge impact on the QPAS circuit. Its left ambiguous and mysterious but each !!¡¡ setting has its own characteristics. Introducing new experimental angles for you to explore.
