Integrated 99dB Limiter

Whether you're listening to music, recording sounds or musicians in the studio, monitoring a live performance, or any other situation where audio could potentially spike, it's important to take precautions. That's why beyerdynamic have installed a passive limiter within this version of the DT 250s.

Instead of abruptly hard-clipping your audio signal, the passive limiter uses a two-stage concept. Firstly, the limiter works in a similar way to a compressor with a quick attack and slow release time. Once the threshold of 99dB has been reached, your audio signal is reduced by 6dB. After this, a second hard limiter is in place that works like a brick wall limiter if the input volume is further increased. This versatile design prevents the occurrence of immediate hard distortions from rapid limiting. The passive circuit requires no additional power, and provides invaluable local noise limiting at the end point of your signal chain. The limiter has been adapted and designed to match the exact acoustical properties of the headphones, ensuring the limiting is incredibly effective and calibrated specifically for the DT 250 LTD 250 Ohm headphones.
