6 Reverb Algorithms

The Tiptop Audio Valhalla Shimmer boasts 6 custom reverb algorithms, providing in-depth sound design capabilities. The 6 algorithms are as follows: Fast Shimmer, Slow Shimmer, Dual Shimmer, Triple Shimmer, Squad Shimmer and ClusterVerb. The algorithms are arranged in order of complexity, with the start of the list remaining relatively simple, contrasting with the last ‘ClusterVerb’ setting which provides four pitch-shifted voices in a feedback network of a modulated reverb. You can achieve everything from subtle modulated reverbs to moving pitch shifted reverbs, ideal for creating everything from simple shimmer effects to atmospheric chordal textures.

2 Special-Effects Algorithms

As well as the variety of Reverb settings, the Valhalla Shimmer expansion chip also includes 2 special-effect algorithms. The Quad Detune settings provides 4 short pitch shifted delays, feedback upon another. This allows you to achieve everything from chorus effects to detuned, dissonant effects. The second algorithm is the PitchEcho setting. The PitchEcho provides a single pitch shifting voice, spliced with tape echo emulation for sound mangling fun. Turning the feedback up, makes the barberpole self-oscillate, for glitchy effects.
