More than just a transient designer
Going above and beyond what's conventionally possible with transient designers, Transgressor 2 gives you the ability to shape the tone of your tracks by much more than just the attack and sustain. The combination of a transient designer and two EQ's enables you to go into more detail than ever before and equalise the attack and sustain portions of your instruments envelope individually. You're not miss-reading, you really can edit the attack and sustain independently and adjust the low, mid and high frequencies independently for each part of the envelope.
Never before have you been given so much control over your tracks to create the perfect balance within your mix. What if you need a brighter while maintaining a dark and booming fundamental for a tom drum in your mix or if you need to cut back on a boxy midrange and emphasise the articulation of a snare drum? No problem, the Transgressor 2 will give you all the tools you need to shape your envelope to perfection.
EQ Attack and Sustain individually
You may be wondering, won't a normal EQ do the same job as Transgressor? The answer is a resounding no! Conventional EQ's make global changes to an instrument, meaning any boost or cut you do is only shaping the overall tone and not affecting the transient response of the instrument you're working on. Even dynamic EQ's change the entire envelope momentarily when reacting to a threshold - much like a compressor. Transgressor 2 is unique in that you get two independent EQ's, one for attack and one for sustain, letting you shape the envelope exactly the way you need to fit within the context of your mix. Each EQ has three bands; low, mid and high with customisable frequency selection and gain dial for each band. Each band also features an adjustable filter type that has been tuned to perfection for each band, giving you a tremendous level of control and tonal shaping options for your tracks.
Highly-flexible EQ
The EQ section in Transgressor is extremely flexible, allowing you to perform smooth EQ on a wide range of instruments, whether that's adding bite to a snare drum without increasing the snare buzz or adding articulation to a kick drum without it becoming 'pokey' or harsh.
Recording sessions can also be gruelling, long and high-stress, meaning you might not always get the tone right at the source, no matter how many sounds and drums you go audition. This often leads to sounds being replaced in the final mix, mostly drums, with CPU intensive playback engines and samples, wasting the time and effort put into tracking. Transgressor can save you time as well as the integrity of the original performance without the need to be replaced later on. Forget about shooting countless samples out and pull up an instance of Transgressor 2 and enhance the transient response and tonal shape to fit your mix seamlessly.
Powerful sidechaining
In addition to giving you full control over the sound of your transients, Transgressor adds another layer of creativity by letting you use the detector with an external sidechain. The sidechain mode means that you can adjust the EQ and sustain of any instrument by triggering it against another instrument in your mix. This can be extremely useful for drum mixing, letting you bring out the body of one drum shell by triggering it against a room or ambience microphone. Put Transgressor 2 on your room microphones and route your main snare microphone channel to the sidechain, triggering the transient response when the snare is hit, boosting the body and depth of your snare drum through the room microphone, ideal for achieving larger than life ambience without washing them in reverb completely.
Expertly implemented, the sidechain mode features an adjustable sensitivity detection level to ensure you avoid false triggers from bleed or other artefacts in your signal. Additionally, a "listen" mode lets you monitor your sidechain signal to ensure you are affecting the exact part of the signal you need to achieve sonic perfection.
