Don't let the MC 840's compact size deceive you. This premium large-diaphragm condenser microphone delivers crystal-clear sound, capturing every single detail and nuance of your sound source with complete transparency. A 0.8'' gold-vapourised double diaphragm capsule provides an improved off-axis response, as well as boasting a frequency response ranging from 30Hz to 20kHz. A very subtle boost around 10kHz adds an airy presence to the microphone's sound, whilst remaining predominantly flat throughout the rest of the frequency spectrum. This provides you with a pure overall sound with exceptional clarity. The MC 840 also boasts excellent sensitivity alongside high SPL handling capabilities, whilst a new pre-amplifier design provides low-noise operation.
Phenomenal functionality for any application. The beyerdynamic MC 840 features five switchable polar patterns to suit a variety of situations. Choose from Omnidirectional, Wide Cardioid, Cardioid, Hypercardioid, and Figure-of-Eight. Each pattern gives you a unique area of pickup to handle any recording task. The MC 840 also features a two-stage low-frequency roll-off switch, providing a 6dB/octave slope at 80Hz or 160Hz, allowing you to compensate for the proximity effect when close-miking. There's also a two-stage pre-attenuation switch, providing attenuation of -10dB or -20dB, allowing you to increase the SPL-handling capabilities of your microphone. No matter what you plan to record, this powerful selection of options allows you to make full use of the MC 840 for almost any recording task.
"If you decide that the MC840 is a good match for your recording needs, you can be confident that you are buying a microphone with a fine provenance, from one of Europe's top mic manufacturers. It should give you many years of reliable service" - Sound on Sound MC 840 Review
