Key Features
The Look Mum No Computer 1114 Filter Grr Filter/VCA is a unique filter module with an integrated VCA to the output. From filtering to sound generation, the 1114 Grr Filter/VCA provides a distinctive tonal character and a multitude of sound design capabilities. All-in-all, the 1114 is a compact synth voice module complete with voltage control over resonance and a specialised clipping circuit.

The thing that sets the 1114 apart from a conventional module is the combination of multiple different elements. The 1114 can be used to create a mini synth voice by blending oscillator and envelope generation together with the onboard VCA acting as a way to shape your overall sound. The foundation of the 1114 Filter Grr is the LM13700 datasheet low pass filter, expanding on the original design by pushing it to its limit, producing some funky and unique sounds in the process. Depending on what is feeding the filter, its tonal characteristics will change.
Although it is optimised for use with unipolar waveforms (great for use with the 1222 performance VCO), the module is suitable for use with bipolar waves as well. The faceplate comes equipped with retro-style rotary controls, over-sized for maximum precision. Its highly unique design comes with voltage control over resonance as well as an attenuverter on the filter frequency input. Whether you want to add a bit of “oomph” to your sound or want to foray into the world of distortion, you can do it all with the 1114 Filter Grr module.
Renowned for his modular inventions and his booming YouTube channel, Sam Battle is the brains behind Look Mum No Computer. His passion for modular gear and invention has fuelled his creativity in creating these unique modules, with the 1114 being no exception. Instead of Diode clipping, the clipping circuit within the 1114 Filter Grr works by pushing the input signal to the max resulting in harsher clipping than the standard diode circuit. There is also a shelf switch which will offset your waveform for asymmetrical clipping, which also results in aggressive resonance.
