Key Features
The Ibanez AR520HFM Semi Hollowbody combines traditional styling with warm tones and luxurious playability catering to the needs of the modern-day rock guitarist. Delivering vintage output and warm tones are Ibanez's own Super 58 pickups, renowned for their versatility. The low profile Gibraltar Performer bridge holstering the strings offers you rich sustain and elite tuning stability, all the while adding to the comfortable playability of the model with low positioned saddles.
Adorning the beautiful blue burst finish are two Tri-Sound switches that gift you comprehensive tonal versatility, so you can utilise the guitar for whatever track you're playing on. A maple body gifts you plenty of sustain with bright bite, whilst a rich jatoba fingerboard runs the length of the smooth heel, set-in neck, which offers added comfort and reach to the higher frets. Abalone binding, inlays and gold hardware add a touch of distinction to the semi-hollow masterpiece that means you'll always look as good as you sound when you take to the stage.

Hollow body guitars look fantastic and produce a round, full tone that appeals to a lot of guitarists. However, for those wanting to experiment with higher gain settings and those that want to push their sound beyond the boundaries, full hollow bodies just aren't practical as they often cause feedback even at low volumes. Well, semi-hollow guitars with internal blocks provide the ideal compromise.
The semi-hollow design provides the natural tones you want with a mounting block for the pickups to stop unwanted vibration that leads to feedback found in hollow body guitars. The Ibanez AR520HFM-LBB is a perfect example of this design. and when paired with the tried and tested Super-58 pickups used since the 1980s, you gain classic, warm and resonant tone that is more than capable of being pushed with drive for added grit and mid-range crunch.
Ibanez knows that today's rock performers need versatility from their guitars. With that in mind, the AR520HFM-LBB is fitted with two Tri-sound switches, as well as the traditional three-way toggle. These modify the circuitry of each of the Super 58 humbuckers individually, internally 'rewiring' them for series, parallel, or coil-split operation.
What does that mean in practice? Just about every tone you could imagine, ready at a moment's notice. In series mode, each humbucker gives that recognisable, mid-focused sound we love, with the neck unit giving a more full and fluid tone than than the driving bridge pickup. Engage the coil-split function for a chiming, single-coil sparkle, or switch to parallel humbucker mode for the best of both worlds - a reduced output pickup with no hum.
New string on, good to go. If you've ever broken a string on stage, with no spare guitar handy, you'll know the frustration and sweaty panic of trying to change to a new one while the band - and the audience - watches you impatiently. Ibanez's Quik Change Classic tailpiece is here to help. With no tiny holes to bullseye, just six precisely machined slots, your new string will be on and tuned before the drummer's even noticed.
