Amazing Lavish Samples
You may mistake yourself for playing an acoustic grand piano thanks to the careful, lavish samples. The SP-250's dynamic differences and stereo field positioning have been faithfully captured, to deliver a naturally expressive piano with great detail. With a maximum polyphony of 60-notes, it's unlikely that notes will drop out as you brush through busy passages and make heavy use of the pedal. The SP-250 also comes with a solid music rack that mounts in seconds. The simple, easy-to-use control panel has 19 LED indicators for instant visual feedback.
Feel the Action of an Acoustic Piano
The SP-250 boasts RH3 real weighted hammer action. Key weights differ in each register of the keyboard like an acoustic one, giving you an authentic playing grand piano style playing experience. The keyboard responds impressively, even as you play quick repeated figures. This helps preserve every expressive nuance that the performer creates. There are three selectable touch curves on the key touch control, meaning you can get the perfect touch sensitivity for every playing style or type of song. With all this, the SP-250 weighs less than 42 pounds (19 kg.).A Range of Sounds to Choose From
You can choose from an array of sounds on the SP-250, along with normal piano options. There are classic electric pianos (reed and tine styles), church and jazz organs, string and choir sounds, harpsichord and clav(s). You'll even find mallet percussion and guitar sounds on here to have fun with. You can layer together two different sounds simultaneously and adjust their balance to get the perfect blend.Chorus and Reverb Effects
The SP-250 gives you a Reverb effect option to recreate that concert hall environment and also a chorus effect to give that colourful depth to the sound. Each effect has three intensity levels that can be set individually for each sound.A Sound System Within
Inside this digital piano are two 10 cm dual-cone speakers matched to a pair of 11W amplifiers to create a great sound system that beautifully reproduces the rich sounds of the piano. The bass-reflex speaker system ensures that every bit of the deep resonances distinctive to a great piano will be heard.Includes Valuable Accessories
Included with the SP-250 is a damper pedal, which provides great expressive control thanks to half-pedaling, which is a variable damping effect based on how deep you press the pedal, as opposed to the simple on/off switch found on cheaper instruments. The included stand is both simple and stylish, and fits securely into a recessed area in the bottom of the piano providing a surprisingly solid feel. The stand's lower crossbar even prevents the pedal from moving forward in performance. Best of all, the SP-250 can be easily taken off the stand for easy transport to live performances and other places.Useful Inputs and Outputs
With two headphone jacks, you can connect two headphones simultaneously, which is great for student/teacher or parent/child who wish to practise in silence. The audio output jack allows fo use of external speakers, which works great for professional performances and recording purposes. The SP-250's MIDI connectors (IN, OUT) give you the option of connecting to a synthesizer or other MIDI-equipped device (computer/sequencer), so you can use the SP-250 as a master keyboard and a 16-part multitimbral sound module for performance and composition.
Other Great Functions
The Key Transpose function lets you shift the pitch of the instrument. The Metronome function is convenient for practicing, where you can add an accent to the first beat (with normal or bell sounds) and also adjust its volume. The dedicated slider makes it easy to adjust tempo. Along with equal temperament, the SP-250 boasts the two most common Baroque and Classical era tunings (Kirnberger and Werckmeister) for historically-accurate performances. There are also 30 Demo songs, which range from classics to originals, to show off all the sounds in a variety of musical genres. To listen to some samples of the Korg SP250, please download the demo mp3 files from the links below.
