AJH Minimod Discrete Cascaded VCA, Silver (10HP) Overview
The AJH Minimod VCA, Silver is a 10hp eurorack module that features 2 fully discrete transistor VCA cores that are hardwired in series. The VCA module features 2 audio inputs, each having their own level controls and CV inputs. An overdrive mode can be selected with an onboard jumper, which overdrives it into soft clipping to add grit to a sound. This can add either subtle saturation to a sound, or completely overdriven tones. The Minimod VCA features full voltage control on both VCA cores. At its core the Minimod VCA exactly recreates the VCA circuitry from the famous Moog Model D synthesizer.

The AJH Minimod VCA features an overdrive mode which allows you to add more grit to your sound. The mode can be selected for VCA 1 with an onboard jumper, and also overdrives the VCA into soft clipping to get that gritty sound. Similar to a guitar amplifier, you can use the 1st VCA for controlling the level of input and distortion, while the 2nd determines the output level. This means you can change the amount of distortion that is added to the sound.
Response
The AJH Minimod VCA features a linear response on all its CV inputs. It works best when used in conjunction with a contour generator with an exponential response. The VCA is AC coupled as well meaning the input can only be used with audio signals and is not ideal for processing DC signals.
Design
The clean layout and design of the Minimod VCA makes the module ideal for live performance applications. All knobs have been placed at the top and the patch points at the bottom. This leaves all the knobs open and free to move without your cables getting in the way and allows you to adjust parameters without getting caught on any cables.
