Kurt Cobain was an American musician, primarily known as the frontman, guitarist and songwriter of 90s grunge band Nirvana. Formed in 1987, Nirvana played a huge part in creating the Grunge-rock scene, and featured hits such as 'Smells like teen spirit' along with bandmates Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl. Since his controversial suicide in 1994, Kurt Cobain has achieved an iconic status, and is still popular with today's musicians.
The Kurt Cobain Jaguar, is a new-looking version of the road-worn, unusual 1965 Jaguar that Cobain wielded during the early-’90s era when Nirvana ruled the grunge rock movement. It faithfully replicates the legendary modified left-handed Jaguar that Cobain found secondhand, and that appeared on the hit album 'Nevermind'. Equipped with a DiMarzio DP103 PAF 36th Anniversary pickup on the neck position, and a DP100 Super Distortion humbucking pickup on the bridge, players can once again achieve that classic grunge tone. This classic Jaguar dual-circuit “lead/rhythm” design, also features a modified lower switch plate with three-way toggle pickup switch, and three knurled “chrome-dome” control knobs with a volume, volume, tone configuration.
This legendary Jaguar features an alder body, delivering a resonant and balanced tone with plenty of clarity. Fender have used alder as their tonewood of choice for electric guitars since the 1950's as the balanced response and slight upper middle definition makes it perfect for rock and blues playing. Alder is also lightweight enabling the guitar to be played all night long without strain, making it ideal for gigging musicians who play more frequently. Like all Jaguars, players can benefit from the elegant curves and cutaway design, making it easier to reach those higher frets. For aesthetic appeal, players can benefit from the Gloss Polyester finish, which protects the guitar from wear and tear, and gives the guitar a smooth texture.
